Periodic Update
I really need to do a better job of not only updating this blog with things Aiden is doing lately, but I need to do a better job of taking pictures. I'm one of those weird parents who doesn't always have a camera in front of my kid's face. We have tried really hard to keep his electronics exposure to a minimum. Our goal is to encourage the use of his imagination and keep him as active as possible. Thankfully he shows only mild interest in our phones. I know he plays on the iPad with his Nana, but that is once a week at most. On the other hand, that means that we don't have our electronic devices in front of him, so fewer opportunities for pictures. Oh well.
Aiden has started taking people's sunglasses and putting them on. If we don't say something along the lines of "Where did Aiden go?" he will say it. Then we have to say it and look for him until he pulls the glasses down. It's pretty cute. Being that Jay is a huge Adam Sandler fan, he instantly thought of Big Daddy and the sunglasses making Aiden invisible. Last night he was playing with his Aunt Dabi's (Debbie) sunglasses.
He is an amazing sponge right now. He repeats everything we say. He will throw his trash away without prompting, say thank you when you open the door for him, and ask if you are ok if you say ouch. He tells me his toys are crying and that hugs will make them better. It is so sweet. Plus he is sleeping in his big boy bed. Ah! Where has my baby gone?

Potty Feet
I really need to get into a more consistent habit of updating this blog!
Once again I have a funny story to share. A couple of days ago I was talking to my sister on the phone while heading home from the Y with Aiden. She was telling me a story that resulted in her son dumping toilet water on her feet. Aiden heard me say something along the lines of "oh my gosh, toilet water!" He started saying "oh my" and "toilet water". So I said, "yes, Aiden, Sarah had toilet water on her feet." He started repeating "Sarah" and "toilet water" in different orders. Then he started saying "toilet water, feet," then "Sarah, toilet water, feet," then "Sarah, potty, feet," and finally "Sarah potty feet!" He was cracking up! Of course, I was too. But he kept saying "Sarah potty feet!" and it was so funny.
Sarah and I were laughing and she said to tell Aiden that it is not nice to call people names and it hurt her feelings. So I told Aiden that he was hurting Sarah's feelings by calling her potty feet. He got very upset. He went completely straight faced and even frowned. He stopped saying potty feet and just stared out the window. Poor guy!
Thankfully, as I repeated the story to Jay and our neighbor, Stephen, when we got home he started saying "Sarah potty feet" again and was back to his happy, cheery self.

Holy cow! Moo.
On Memorial Day, Aiden and I were heading home from Bloomington when we passed the intersection of 9th St and Walnut St. There had been a building on the Northwest corner for years (my grandmother used to work upstairs) and when I glanced in that direction I saw that the building was gone and a new one was already being built. Aiden had been jabbering up a storm and I muttered "Holy cow!" Aiden proceeded to say "Holy cow! Mooooo!" continuously until just shy of Martinsville (probably close to 20 minutes). I couldn't stop laughing. So cute!

I did it!
Many months ago Aiden started showing some interest in using the potty. We bought him a "Cars" potty and he used it a couple of times and then lost interest. About a month ago he started showing interest again, but we weren't very good at being consistent about it. In the last week or so he has gone and sat on the potty on his own numerous times. He always has his clothes on though.
This weekend I started putting him on the potty just before bedtime and nap time, and just after waking up from nap time. This evening, before bed, I put him on the potty and gave him a book to look at so that he would stay sitting long enough to possibly do something. Next thing I know he hops up and he had gone pee in the potty! I cheered for him and told him he did a great job. He instantly ran out to the bedroom, where Jay was sitting, and told Jay, "I did it!" He was so excited and proud of himself. I gave him two mini m&ms and we told the pee goodbye as it flushed down the toilet.
I know that this is just the beginning of potty training, but he was so proud of himself, and at under 20 months, I'll take it!

Quick Update
It has been well over a year since I have posted on this blog. So much for keeping track of Aiden's milestones. I promise to try to do more of an update soon, but I have something I want to note so that I don't forget it.
We have been working with Aiden on saying "love you". Usually, we will say "love you" and Aiden will respond with "bye." It's really cute. However, recently he has started responding with "love me." Just so adorable! He is growing and developing so much every day! It is really neat to see him grown and learn.
